I was born in Portland, Oregon on February 19, 1966 and have lived mostly in the Pacific Northwest. I did spend a couple of years in the Southeastern USA, but after experiencing one too many tornados I headed home to Vancouver, WA, where I now reside with my family. Both my parents are now retired. I have an older brother and sister, both of whom have produced a fabulous son each. I love my nephews! Very handsome teens they are now, and both are insanely intelligent. Stats-wise I am about 5'7" and weigh a lot more than I should. I have been considered morbidly obese for a while, but am about 100 pounds less than I was when I lived in the Southeastern USA. My hair is normally a medium brown, but I'm battling the gray hairs now, so hair coloring is my friend! I love being either auburn or my natural hair color. My eyes are what my mother calls "mukuldeedun." That's mom-speak for hazel green. I am a diabetic and am working to improve this condition, but it is rough going. I also suffer from a condition called NLD (Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum). It's a condition that causes rashes on the lower legs that can develop very painful ulcerations. It tends to be more prominent in diabetic women, with about 3% actually dealing with chronic cases of the disease. I would be one of that 3%, unfortunately. I work for a cable company as a retention specialist, which means I get bitched at a lot by people who do not pay their bills on time or can't seem to understand that cable TV is not a utility. It's on a daily basis that I have to explain this to people, and sometimes they even understand. I think if people would just understand that prices do rise each year (the providers of the channels raise the prices first. If we did not adjust our rates we'd take a huge financial bath and we're just not going to do that, people. Sorry!), they could actually not call up with attitudes and be easier to deal with. The job is high stress, and to be honest with you, it will probably put me in a hospital bed sometime in the future. I am a retired radio air personality. After 11 years of letting bean counters control what you do and say, you kind of get sick of it. This is why podcasting is a lot more fun and fulfilling. You control the content, not some schmuck in a suit who's only time on a microphone was while drunk at a wedding reception. I also am a musician, having played in rock bands back when I was a lot younger and healthier. I love playing bass guitar, but I also love playing piano and singing. I play piano, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, clarinet, flute, some percussion (I really suck on a drum set, though), and a little bit of trumpet (I can play a few notes without embarrassing myself too badly). Singing is something I do the most, as singing is a part of existence and life for me, and I believe I do it well enough to not make people's ears bleed much. My best friend's name is Vanessa, and I really wish I saw her more often. Times being as they are, we both work way too much. But when we get together, look out! Our favorite past time is putting in videos of our favorite bands and drooling at them. Sure, that may sound stupid to you but we're both in our 40's and this is as good as it gets when you work as much as we do. I have four cats, 3 birds, and 1 gerbil. You'll see them on the pets page. They are my "children," as I cannot have any of the human variety. It's a bummer, but at least I never had that ticking clock feeling that most women have. I have been married before...and that was enough for me. I think if God wants me to marry again He's gonna have to send me Mr. Right complete with a sign pinned to the guy that says so. My ex was an alcoholic, but is now sober. However, we have nothing in common at all. That's what happens when you marry without taking enough time to get to know each other properly. The proposal was a mutual one about 3 months after we met and consisted of "Hey, do ya wanna get married?" "Sure, why not!" We were both so brainless, but he had a valid excuse. He was drunk. I was just young and very stupid. I used to be in the inner circle of trusted fans/friends with REO Speedwagon. Let's just say that mistakes were made and I am now in a much better place mentally than I was while with them. For more information on it, feel free to read an article about it. I love to make jewelry, and plan to sell my creations in the future. For more information on that, click here. Now, if all this information didn't make you navigate away to less boring web sites, move on to the facts. |
